Signage design conveying cutting-edge research through spatial experience: Signage plan for the University of Tokyo’s RCAST exhibited at the "Grand Sign Design Exhibition"

The signage system designed by NOSIGNER for the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo is currently on display at the “Grand Sign Design Exhibition” held at Tokyo Midtown Design Hub. The “Grand Sign Design Exhibition” commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Japan Sign Design Association (SDA); it showcases the role sign design has played in society, the trajectory of its evolution, and its future possibilities. Featuring 77 projects categorized into 11 contexts for interpreting signage, the RCAST project is presented under the category of “3. Pictograms.” This signage project, which won an Excellence Award from the SDA, aimed to communicate the center’s advanced scientific research to the public in an accessible way; the design includes movable signs identifying various buildings and floor maps that visualize the locations and subject matter of the research laboratories.
