Open Source is a software development method for anyone to use as well as improve and redistribute projects. We questioned whether we could apply this concept (widely used in the programming world), to product design, and communicate the value of Open Source design to enhance people's creativity.
オープンソースは、誰もが自由に改良・再配布することができるソフトウェア開発の手法です。プログラミングの世界で広く浸透していたこの概念をプロダクトデザインに応用し、オープンソースによるデザインの価値を広く伝え、人々の創造力を高めることはできないでしょうか。

フェザーを雲に見立てた、DIYできる照明
POKKARI is a DIY lighting fixture created with feathers. We created this in response to a request for a magazine to create an interior project that can be practiced as a DIY. We proposed a design that uses feathers as a type of shade, reminiscent of the sun as if the origin of light.
POKKARIは、フェザーでつくるDIYの照明器具です。ある雑誌の企画でDIYできるインテリアのアイデアを求められたことを受け、電球を光の起源とも言える太陽に見立て、そこにかかる雲を連想させるフェザーをシェードとして用いるデザインを提案しました。

Methods for producing this lighting fixture was published in magazines, which resulted in many to have worked on using this DIY lighting. POKKARI was the first Open Source project we worked on, which lead us to design further Open Source projects.
この照明器具の制作手順は雑誌で公開されることになり、多くの人たちがDIYの照明づくりに取り組みました。POKKARIは、その後多くのプロジェクトを通して、デザインのオープンソース化に取り組むことになる私たちが、最初に手がけたオープンソースプロジェクトとなりました。
