The space design for the TECHTILE #4 symposium presents a research of advanced tactile technology.
We designed a huge structure about 7m diameter like bubble membrane in 10m x 10m space. The dialogue under the huge object which awake tactile sensation was organized participant's intellection like bubbles.

TECHTILE is an activity to reaffirm the value of our haptic sense based on Japanese latest research for tactile engineering. This activity aims to approach the new future of haptic engineering, through connecting people and works from Art, Design , Science, and engineering. We usually have been less-conscious about our sense of touch. But as you may know, tactile sensation is much relate to our essential motivation. You would realize a new concept of values and alternative point of view for the world through an awareness of tactile sensation.

The structure was balanced by compression of balloons and strain of threads which autonomously decides its shape. We set the form on site because of it's uncontrollableness of autonomy. It's overall weight is less than 10kg, and easy to construct which can be finished within a day.

We created a space design for the symposium held by "TECHTILE", an activity that created new values in terms of focusing on sense of touch, by using cutting-edge technology. We decorated the hall with balloons of 6 meter high, indicating sense of touch, and a sense of being invisible with the presence of a visible object.
