We provided design to a skin care brand called “warew”, meaning “Japanese style”. This brand aims to create a new standard in Japan through the use of domestic and organic ingredients. We chose a deep vermilion and pure white as the brand colors. These colors, representing Japanese beauty, were inspired by the shiromuku, a white wedding kimono known to portray women in their utmost beauty. The symbol illustrates the extraction of Japanese beauty from the national flag – the rising sun. It also looks like a hand mirror, which is strongly related to the beauty of women.
This brand is derived from the Japanese perception of beauty, “wabi-sabi”, which is the idea that beauty exists in simplicity or in the invisible spirit. The package design represents a standing Japanese woman wearing a kimono – by holding the red “obi” of the kimono, your posture will appear graceful as you care for your skin. In such ways, warew’s skin care products will express your inner beauty.
