A poster design for Open House. in the University of Tokyo, Komaba research campus. A large hole was depicted on the poster to express how the “open” house was “open” to everyone. I designed a graphic pattern inside the hole for being able to use both the hole and the non-hole poster depending on circumstances. Inside the hole, I put the names of all research areas on campus with a double spiral shape and made a typographical shape inspired by light streaming from darkness. This design was related to the theme of the open house, ‘Do you see the light ?’ Rotary motors were embedded in some of the posters to provide the illusion of being drawn into the world of research by spinning around the round graphic. The swirling posters were active during the campus event, attracting many visitors.
