A poster design for Open House. in the University of Tokyo, Komaba research campus. As for expressing the “open” house being “open” for everyone, a real big hole was “open” on a poster. I designed a graphic pattern inside the hole for being able to use both the hole and the non-hole poster depending on circumstances. Inside the hole, I put the names of all research areas on campus with a double spiral shape and made a shape of typography as if light streams from darkness. This typography design related to the theme of the open house, ‘Do you see the light ?’ Rotary motors were embedded in some of the posters to provide the illusion of being drawn into the world of researches by spinning around the round graphic. The swirling posters were active while the open campus and this attracted many visitors.
