Tochigi prefecture is a main producer of kanpyo (dried gourd). The Oyama Chamber of Commerce and Industry has come up with a new product combining this kanpyo with the Japanese delicacy, udon noodles. This udon uses fiber-enhanced dried gourd shavings as an addition to the typical flour noodles.
We were asked by the Oyama Chamber of Commerce and Industry to be in charge of the packaging and complete art direction for Kanpyo Udon. It was our task to come up with an entire brand design not only for this udon, but for driving the future of kanpyo as well. Using traditional Japanese calligraphy drawn on Japanese paper, we created a logo that was both amiable and luxurious, all the while maintaining the integrity and prestige of the food.
